Population Explosion

Without Population

there is no new invention

nor any man made creation.

None to share joy or sorrow ,

No neighbours to fight or borrow.

Life without population

is beyond my imagination.

Population with limitation,

is essential for every Nation

Republic day with a difference!

26th Jan, 2013 at Kurnool

Every year this day is  memorable as it is our Republic day, but this year  more so as it was an eye-opener to us all when we visited the old age home called “Maatha Annapoorneshwari” Anada Sharanalaya near the Vaartha office, Nandikotkur Road, Kurnool. We saw that many old people  mostly aged above 60 years were living there as destitutes who were left behind by their own family members.

Though they had all the basic necessities and comforts of life, their faces were sad and bereft of happiness.  They were craving for a word of comfort and assurance, a little affection from their loved ones, an extra bit of care and compassion which I am sure they would have showered on their children in leaps and bounds. Their complete lifetime passed away with working hard for fulfilling the needs and satisfying the whims of their children. But now they are helpless and abandoned without love and mostly the feeling of unwanted and unneeded that pinches them hard. Their hearts would twist with pain and cry unshed tears when they remember their past days.

As a part of service to the society, we the Montessorians on behalf of Karuna International club mobilized voluntary funds from the staff of Montessori and from the collected funds, we bought a few basic necessary items and eatables like biscuits and fruits.  Our children and teachers entertained them with yesteryear old telugu songs, the residents too later joined with a song or two of their own which brought tears to all present there.

The visit to the old age home left an strong impression on our minds and heart. The residents of the home bid us a tearful farewell and invited us to visit them again. We too returned to our homes with a heavy heart but not in vain as the visit made us more determined and focused in bringing about small changes in our society through effective teaching and value based morals.  In fact, on our way back planned a few programmes in near future that would bring smiles to those withdrawn faces and make their day a happy day.
‘Small things make big difference’.

‘Our attitude determines our altitude’.

Hoping for a better tomorrow, lets join hands to help others as much as we can!

ART ON THE STREETS OF HYDERABAD

We boast about a proud heritage of 400+ years of history, culture and tradition. Surprisingly we should be embarrassed to find this ubiquitous art in any form on the streets of our Hi-Tec city. This is an Art which needs no skill and it’s an irony to say that the people of Hyderabad indulge in encouraging it. What is this Art?? Where do we see it…you name it – on the streets, roads, parks, traffic jams, bus stops, temples, cinema halls etc. Yes!! You guessed it, I am talking about the Art of begging which is one of the easiest Arts. We find these so called artists in every form shamelessly. They just need to put on a pathetic face as they see a prospective donator for their con. That’s the minimum qualification – additional qualities like a baby in hand, a photo of God, a blatant lie of being hungry, losing luggage, purse and have to catch a bus to go home and Of Course! A handicap is an added advantage.

My humble request to my fellow residents of this city not to encourage these clustering artists, try to hamper their growth by a small beginning, by not contributing else they shall become parasites/pests to our society.

STOP PUTTING ALMS because they nag you anywhere and everywhere. Show them a way out of this degrading profession, try to give them jobs , join them in rehabilitation centre etc HELP THEM.

You are being a part of creating a dirty system of earning, evil elements to the society and causing obstacle for the individual and growth of our society – by encouraging these so called beggars ---- the con artists!

Tailpiece: have you ever given it a penny of thought, while giving alms? Have you ever noticed how well off they would be? Begging has become a source of earning effortlessly – credit to the over kind hearted ‘dayalu’ Hyderabadis.

Lotus in my garden.

Water Lily in my garden.

We got this water lily pond 4 years back.We had been trying for a lotus shoot for a long time, after a lot of enquiring, we finally succeeded to get it from our local nursery owner. Slowly as the fresh leaves were developing I and Ranjan were enthusiastic. In no time the leaves grew large enough and buds too came, making us more eager to look at the first flower blooming and when it did bloom we let it remain in the pond for two days and then offered it to Goddess lakshmi as lotus is her favourite! Next flower we had after 15 days and then after a month or so in a span of 10 days we had 5-6 flowers making us wonder. But alas! soon our lotus plant stopped having any more flowers. We waited for weeks, they turned into months and into 3 long years !
We really don't know what was the problem, though the leaves were growing but no flowers. We took a lot of care and also added the natural manure to the pond.
Six months back, on a whim I just asked Ranjan to clean the water pond, it so happened that there was big toad in the pond which had made its home, poor thing it couldn't escape from the pond 'coz of the height. Ranjan had a tough time capturing the toad into a plastic bag and releasing it in the near by KC canal (Kurnool - Cuddapah Canal).
Then, we our wait recommenced once again for the lotus, this time our little pond didn't disappoint us, just yesterday Ranjan spotted a small bud, here is the progress ...........of day on
e and two... I am just waiting for the flower to bloom :)

Will be updating this blog on daily basis.

CHILD LABOUR – A PERSISTENT PROBLEM

Children the gift of God. Children the source of unlimited energy and sweet innocent ness. The young children with their faces smeared , wearing dirty clothes asking for petty jobs, sometimes aimlessly roaming and bantering with each other. Aren’t they supposed to have happy smiles on their faces! Then why do we find so many kids doing work which beyond their age in tea stalls, garages, hotels, beedi factories, servants at houses etc. Why are'nt they taken care by some one why are they the neglected lot of the society?

Children are exploited by the profit seekers for want of work done @ less price!

The children in turn need a day’s square meals – his basic need. His choice to fulfill his hunger is to beg, borrow, steal or work. Here, I think mostly the traits of human goodness urges him to seek for work.

We instead of hampering child labour we are encouraging by offering jobs for the tiny hands. What could be the reason for a child who should have been in play grounds or in schools is seen polishing shoes, cleaning cars and running errands for a few rupees? Don’t you think they would also like to play without any responsibility or burden of looking after their infant sibling while their parents seek out for their livelihood?

Isn’t the privilege of a child to play boundless, laugh, giggle, have fun, merry around without any hackles? Yes !! it is their Right! Now, is never too late, to rectify our mistake. Let us begin in a small way instead of sharing your money try to share or impart your education to the child. Possible admit them in ‘Homes’ run by the social organizations and the Government. Look around you, in the bus stops, railway stations, near temples etc are the regular haunts of such children. Observe, seek them out, do not hesitate to approach they might seem very rash and insolent, remember they are uncared, unloved and neglected children. Their attitude is their shield of protection. Let us help ourselves to build a civilized and better society for future by putting our efforts jointly in production of good citizens for tomorrow.

SHARE YOUR EDUCATION - HELP A CHILD
AVOID CHILD LABOUR
If YOU avoid child labour today, it shall vanish tomorrow. Help to build a country with better civilians than criminals.

Well,  personally, I feel that these children are doing something of their life, if not this what would they be doing?Steal? like in the old bollywood movies where a boy steals medicine for his Maa or a loaf of bread for his Behen and grows up to become a 'good' thief and so he is the hero? Thats all Bakwaas!!

My Sweet Pop.

My papa calm and quiet
never utters an epithet.
He buys me an icecream,
When I fail in my exam.
He glares at me
when I am late to home.
He takes us to movies good
Even if my grades are not good.
He tucks me in bed everyday,
telling me stories of past day(s).
Thats my lovely Pop,
sweeter than Lollipop!
