ART ON THE STREETS OF HYDERABAD

We boast about a proud heritage of 400+ years of history, culture and tradition. Surprisingly we should be embarrassed to find this ubiquitous art in any form on the streets of our Hi-Tec city. This is an Art which needs no skill and it’s an irony to say that the people of Hyderabad indulge in encouraging it. What is this Art?? Where do we see it…you name it – on the streets, roads, parks, traffic jams, bus stops, temples, cinema halls etc. Yes!! You guessed it, I am talking about the Art of begging which is one of the easiest Arts. We find these so called artists in every form shamelessly. They just need to put on a pathetic face as they see a prospective donator for their con. That’s the minimum qualification – additional qualities like a baby in hand, a photo of God, a blatant lie of being hungry, losing luggage, purse and have to catch a bus to go home and Of Course! A handicap is an added advantage.

My humble request to my fellow residents of this city not to encourage these clustering artists, try to hamper their growth by a small beginning, by not contributing else they shall become parasites/pests to our society.

STOP PUTTING ALMS because they nag you anywhere and everywhere. Show them a way out of this degrading profession, try to give them jobs , join them in rehabilitation centre etc HELP THEM.

You are being a part of creating a dirty system of earning, evil elements to the society and causing obstacle for the individual and growth of our society – by encouraging these so called beggars ---- the con artists!

Tailpiece: have you ever given it a penny of thought, while giving alms? Have you ever noticed how well off they would be? Begging has become a source of earning effortlessly – credit to the over kind hearted ‘dayalu’ Hyderabadis.
